Welcome to 5th Grade!
¡Bienvenidos a 5º Grado!
About Mrs. DavilaI am so excited about being your child's 5th-grade teacher this academic school year! This will be my 20th year teaching at Georgetown ISD and I feel honored and blessed for this amazing opportunity. Here is a little bit about me. I grew up in the Rio Grand Valley in the small town of Harlingen, Texas. I have so many wonderful fun memories growing up there. I have been married for 16 years to my best friend, David. We have a 13-year-old daughter who is an 8th grader at Tippit Middle School. I also have three pets whom I love dearly. My dog Lexi and two very energetic cats, Leo and Luna. They are very loving and sweet!
Hobbies
During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family. One of our favorite things to do together is cook and watch movies. We also enjoy riding our bikes. One of my all time favorite hobbies is running. I have trained and participated in several marathons and triatholons. I also love traveling, baking, and reading.
EducationOne of my greatest accomplishments was graduating from the University of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. I consider becoming an educator one of my most significant accomplishments. I love and treasure every minute I spend in the classroom with your scholars. It has given me the opportunity to teach with passion and purpose. Being in the classroom has given me the privilege to motivate and inspire children. I am very grateful and blessed for having the opportunity to teach your children.

Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year!
My name is Mrs. Smith and I will be your child's 5th grade teacher this year. I teach Math and English Language Arts in a Dual Language Classroom with my amazing team partner, Mary Davila! I am very passionate about making learning engaging, developing a growth mindset for learning, and developing relationships with my students every day. Above all, I want all of my students to leave the year with a confidence for mathematics and a love for reading!
I graduated from Kean University with my bachelor's and my certification in Elementary K-6. I then began my education career in the fall of 2017 at Annie Purl. Since then I have also been certified to teach English Language Learners and Gifted and Talented Students. I was very fortunate to start my career in a beautiful, brand new school! This will be my seventh year of teaching, and my third year in a Dual Language Classroom.
My husband, Tim, and I have a beautiful daughter and son: Leighton and Ollie. We love exploring new areas, trying new foods, and visiting The Georgetown Library. We love living in Georgetown and being a part of the community!

Brandon Pleasants
HELLO!
My name is Brandon Pleasants and I have the pleasure of teaching your student Math/Science this year! This will be my 11th year of teaching and my second here at Annie Purl. Prior to my move to Georgetown, my wife (Michelle) and I taught overseas for ten years. I've had the amazing opportunity to teach in such wonderful countries as Kazakhstan, Nigeria, and China. I met some awesome people and had some incredible adventures!!
I graduated from Texas Tech University with my Bachelor's in Psychology and earned my teacher's certificate through Houston Tillotson University. I have taught numerous grade levels throughout my career, including 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and now 5th grade. Each presents its own unique challenges and rewards- all of which I relish. While my goal is obviously to teach your child the fundamental basics of math and science, it's much more than that. I want them to leave my classroom as a more complete person- both in and out of the classroom. I want to teach them how to think (critically and introspectively); to become better people (accepting of others' opinions and ideas); and for them to learn that it's OK to make mistakes (learning can be a messy process).
Finally, I'm the proud father of 8yr. old twins, Jude and Zoe. We enjoy camping, watching American football, and eating at every Mexican food restaurant we can find in the greater Austin area!
It's truly a pleasure to be one of the guides in your child's educational career and I look forward to a great year to come!
